I created this piece for the Lunar New Year 2022 - Year of the Tiger.

I had been reading about my heritage on my mum’s side - and really wanted to inject some of my Peranakan heritage into this piece using symbolism that has existed in Peranakan art and design for hundreds of years.

In each corner, four iconographic flowers represent each of the seasons - spring represented by the peony, summer represented by the lotus, autumn represented by the chrysanthemum and winter represented by the plum blossom. Around the outside sit symbols and colours that appear frequently in my personal work.
